Dr Helen Anderson is a leader who has extensive experience in research, government and business. She has a PhD in seismology from Cambridge University and was an active researcher in geophysics and seismology for many years.
Helen was Chief Scientific Adviser (1997-2003) and then Chief Executive (2004-10) at the Ministry of Research, Science and Technology. She recently chaired the government inquiry into the partial failure of the Statistics House building in Wellington in the Kaikoura earthquake, and was a member of the inquiry into the Christchurch CBD collapses.
Helen currently chairs the BRANZ board, is an independent director of DairyNZ, Antarctica NZ, Lincoln Hub, NIWA and ClearPoint Ltd. She is Pro-Chancellor of Massey University Council and is a member of the National Council of the Institute of Directors.
