Project X is a cool, fun day where you get to do some real electronics stuff with help from experts.
It’s a full day starting at 9.30am and finishing by 4pm aimed at Intermediate School ages (11 to 13 approx).
During the day we will have frequent breaks and experts will be on hand to assist you at every stage.
We will be using soldering irons that are hot and care is needed to keep safe during the day, but we will fully supervise all activities and help where needed.
For the day you will get:
…A full project briefing
…All the kit you need
…To build a lights and sound electronic Christmas Tree
…To write a computer programme
…to switch on and see the lights flash and hear the music
AND Take your tree home at the end of the day!
The day is organised by volunteers from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (The IET), a registered charity in the UK with a worldwide network of volunteers. The aim of the day is for young people to get an idea of what it’s like in the world of engineering and have fun.
We have to limit the numbers to the first 20 who subscribe to the event.
Note for parents and caregivers:
We may take photographs of the activities during the day, please advise if you don’t want your child to be photographed. As we will be using hot soldering irons, under direct supervision, we require parental / caregiver consent for participating in the activities.
The IET and FutureIntech have run many of these events around the country previously at schools, this is the first time that Project X has taken place in Dunedin and at the International Science Festival.
It’s a fun day and the participants get a lot out of it. Come and join us for PROJECT X.
