Jules Verne Steampunk and Train Day

Fun for the family! Colour a train, take a photo with Josephine and join the model engineers. Identify some cool trains on our train chart. If this isn’t enough, then maybe you could hang out with the Gadgeteers for some of the following:

Splendid Teapot Racing 10am

A world famous sport, Splendid Teapot Racing comes to Toitū OSM. Join us and the Gadgeteers for funky frivolous family fun racing teapots in our foyer.

Steampunk 101 1.30pm

How to turn Victorian or second-hand attire into a steampunk costume along with steampunk accessories. Join the Gadgeteers who will be wearing an outfit that will be explained by Simone Montgomery. For example, how it was created and where to source your accessories.

Auditorium

Steampunk Costume Competition 3pm

Come dressed in your steampunk designer wear ready to parade your fashion in front of a small panel of Toitū OSM staff and Gadgeteer judges. Ages 0 – 100. Prizes will be steampunk accessories. Please register your interest at 03 477-5052 or at our reception desk.

Interview Jules Verne and Nellie Bly

A futuristic Steampunk interview with Nellie Bly, an American investigative reporter and Jules Verne. Bly turned the fictional Around the World in Eighty Days into fact by completing the journey in 72 days. In this interview they meet and time travel in a dirigible where Verne discusses his life, the influences that affected his works, and the foresight he glimpsed of the future.
